Ok so about 6 months ago NASA landed a craft onto the surface of mars. Ever since, they’ve been posting a large amount of pictures from the craft onto the internet. What you are seeing is an excerpt of a recent image from the craft.
Notice that it looks something like a railroad tie, or a log or something. Last I checked, mars had no long rectangular, grained rocks.
