Ok so Erin and I are pretty darn tan, as we’ve been tanning lately.
Here’s a picture about 2 weeks ago, when when we were really really white. (excuse the crappy webcam)

And this is us today, after tanning. Look how tan we are!!

So this weekend we were drinking and after a few 40s Jon and Brian get this AWESOME (at the time) idea.
See, they saw how the carb in a pipe allows you to smoke faster than just a hole. and somehow that brought them to the idea that beer bottles are too slow for their fast-paced drinking habits.
Lacking a beer bong, they came up with this:
You drink from the top and the hole in the side lets air into the bottle, allowing you to down a large amount of beer, in a small amount of time.
Genius!
Too bad it doesn’t really help, and spills all over the floor because there’s a hole in the side.
Such humor in drunkenness!

God I love learning.
Whenever I say that, people think I am some nerd who sucks up in class and loves listening to teachers. That couldn’t be further from the truth, in my case.
I enjoy researching and coming to conclusions on my own, on topics that interest me and stimulate my intellect.
I feel that, through learning, I can understand everything and anything in life. There IS something that unifies and connects all of everything. We can know smaller and smaller particles down to quarks and theorize beyond, but we still don’t know what it’s all about.
Think about it, just with Life, EVERY form of life on Earth is connected through DNA. We all share common coding in how we are formed, whether we are a bacteria or an ape. That in itself is amazing enough, but it pales in comparison to the fact that every living cell is made up of atoms, which are all made of electrons, protons and neutrons. Those in turn are all made of Quarks, and other subatomic particles. Not only are all cells, of all living things made of Quarks, and a few other subatomic particles, but ALL MATTER in the entire universe is made of these few, common, subatomic particles.
The kicker:
Uranium-238 has a mass of 238.0508 atomic mass units (u). It can decay into thorium (234.0436 u) and an alpha particle (4.0026 u). But uranium’s mass minus the mass of its decay products is 0.0046 u. Why is there missing mass?
I wondered for all my life, how matter can disappear into thin air. Then I hit it!
Mass is a form of Energy.
When uranium nuclei undergo radioactive decay, some of their mass is converted into kinetic energy (the energy of the moving particles). This conversion of energy is observed as a loss of mass.
It makes so much sense! Matter and Energy are the same thing, just expressed in different forms!
So to sum it up, everything that exists is this:
4 Forces:
- Strong nuclear: This is the force that is responsible for attracting quarks, antiquarks, and gluons. They make up such particles as hadrons, which are a group of quarks that make up protons, and their residual effect, in addition to electromagnetic forces, bind the protons and neutrons together in the nucleus
- Electromagnetic: This is the force between 2 charged particles, such as 2 electrons. This includes Magnetism, Light, and all other EMR (Electro Magnetic Radiation)
- Weak Nuclear: I don’t know much about this force. “The weak nuclear force enables all lepton and quark particles and antiparticles to interchange energy, mass and charge – effectively change into each other.” Sounds like I need to do more research, how fascinating.
- Gravity: The weakest, but most evident and studied of the forces. It affects all matter and forces universally, unlike the other forces. An interesting fact about gravity is that it is universally attractive. That means that all matter and energy in the universe attracts all other matter in the universe. Therefore, I exhibit an attraction to a star 50 light years away, and vice versa.
And a couple of particles:
- Electrons: This makes up electricity, and is the “Meat” of all Atoms.
- 6 Types of Quarks: Up, Down, Charm, Strange, Top and Bottom. Which makes up all protons and neutrons, which, combined with electrons, is matter as we know it.
- Antimatter: Anti-Quarks and Positrons. Which we don’t even know if exists.
- Neutrino: Neutrinos are also have relatively unknown functions.
That’s really IT.
No more.
Everything you know is comprised of some of these things.
Think about it. It’s creepy.

Look at my tan stomach!
I am the tannest of them all!
So recently I have been thinking about the point of my Livejournal, and where I want to progress with it.
I have a couple of goals in creating this journal:
1. First and foremost I want to archive important memories and events in my life, for nostalgic purposes.
2. I want to entertain and amuse anyone who comes across my journal, as well as the people who read it regularly, both through humorous anecdotes and humorous recollections.
3. I want to provide a means of expressing my creativity and opinions, that will be read and available to and by the general public. There is nothing greater than having a platform that you can use to write ANYTHING you want. The journal is a step up from a normal webpage to me, because of the ease of updating, and the tight knit community that it creates online. People who have similar interests might just randomly read my journal. That is a neat feeling.
4. I want to stimulate discussion and intelligent conversation through my journal and the commenting feature. Similar to sites such as kuro5hin and, to some extent, Slashdot. I have yet to achieve this, but it still is one of my goals. I think I would need to attract a wider audience, in order to have a stimulating debate. Or maybe I should just leave it to the sites that do it well already. Maybe I have too my ambitions set too high.
So, my internal debate as to where I want to take this journal has been one of the reasons I haven’t really posted anything of substance lately.
I think, until I fully decide on a format, I will just write about whatever is on my mind.
Nothing more, nothing less.
